Vitamins
Modern wisdom asserts that vitamins are pills that you should take for good health. A dictionary states that a vitamin is any of a number of unrelated complex organic substances found variously in most foods and essential in small amounts for the normal functioning of the body.
| Complex: |
Vitamin C is not only Ascorbic acid, despite the fact that the FDA allows drug companies to market Ascorbic acid as Vitamin C. Natural Vitamin C is made up of 6 to 9 substances (depending upon who you listen to) only one of which is ascorbic acid. 90% of all the ascorbic acid in the US is made by pouring hydrochloric acid on corn syrup. Sounds like something you should put in your stomach, right?.... Well your stomach doesn't agree, and must use energy and nutrients to process it out of your body. As proof, Dr. Bruce West notes that low levels of vitamin C and ascorbic acid could not be prevented [or corrected] by administering synthetic vitamin C, even by injecting ascorbic acid directly into the blood stream. Your body does know the difference between natural (food derived) vitamins, and synthetic vitamins. |
| Organic: |
Having the characteristics of, or derived from living organisms. Neither processed foods, nor processed pills fit this description. Anything heated over 120 degrees (PASTEURIZED) is enzymaticly dead food, and is why despite the best efforts of dietitians, malnutrition is a real problem in hospitals. |
| Found in foods: |
Many so-called vitamins / multi vitamins today are a chemist's attempt to duplicate nature. The resulting molecule may be a mirror image of the real thing, but they never mention that the polarity of the synthetic is opposite to the natural, and has the opposite effect. Synthetic vitamin producers all claim that synthetic vitamins produce the same effect as natural vitamins, but studies show an actual loss of protection. If taken in high dosages, they may act like drugs to your body , too! There is a complex synergistic relationship between the components in a fresh fruit or vegetable not found in a synthetic mono-chemical. Which do you think is better? |
| Small Amounts: |
Despite Linus Pauling's words, (since disproved) we were not meant to ingest GRAMS of so-called Vitamin C which in most cases {despite the advertising} is synthetic ascorbic acid.. The excess does pass out of the body, but it does so at the cost of processing it just as the body processes any TOXIN. An orange (high in Vitamin C) has 20 to 40 mg of Vitamin C in it. Does that tell you something? In that orange are 600 carotenes (that we know of so far). Are you going to take 600 pills so you get all of them, or are you going to eat the orange? |
There exists an interdependence of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that is totally ignored in our existing grocery store dominated food chain. We know that vitamins are complex chemical substances which are indispensable to nutrition, and that each of them is of importance for the normal function of some special structure in the body. Disorder and disease result from any vitamin or mineral deficiency.
Laboratory tests prove that the fruit, the vegetables, the grains, the eggs, and even the milk and meats of today are not what they were a few generations ago (which doubtless explains why our forefathers thrived on a selection of food that would starve us today; their foods had nutritional value!.)
It is not commonly recognized, however, that vitamins control the body's appropriation of minerals, and in the absence of minerals they have no function to perform. (Lacking vitamins, the system can make some use of minerals, but lacking minerals, vitamins are useless) "U.S.Senate Document NO. 264". This same paper (in 1936) documented the state of our depleted soils noting that there was little nourishment left.
Despite advertising claims to the contrary, taking individual synthetic supplements will not make up the difference. In many cases, isolated individual supplements will cause serious depletions of other nutrients, serious physical problems, and even death. See Beta Carotene.
So where do you get your vitamins? From: FOOD
If you think you need specific vitamins then go to VITSOURCE.
